Hungry

I'm hungry. After a nice couple weeks where I didn't particularly care how much I was eating (but still managed to eat well), I've been unable to quench my desire to snack. I've made sure to have a lot of protein today (big bowl of yogurt with breakfast, a salad with seeds and beans and eggs, and some cheese and fake meat with lunch), but it really hasn't helped. Unfortunately, I don't even know what I'd like to have - everything's been tasting greasy lately, so I'm not craving the worst stuff for me. But veggies sound boring, I don't want a big meal, and I've had more than enough pretzels in the last week.

What gets you through the day?

Goin' Strong!

I weighed in today, and I dropped two more pounds since last Monday. Not bad for still feeling like I'm not doing well controlling what I'm eating. I'm back to work today, so I have a bit more regiment to my day and am not around all my food at home all day, which should both help.

No limits!

I decided before the contest here ever started that I wasn't going to give up eating anything - I was just going to moderate the things I shouldn't be eating as much of. This means I'm not going to go without the nachos at the Tustin Brewing Company this year - it means that if I get nachos, there better be several friends there to help me eat them. Keeps me happy.

So, that means more meals out. Who's in?

Amazing New Weight Loss Plan!

Well, since weighing in in last week, I've dropped five pounds! The reason? A newborn! And virus! The virus kept me from keeping anything down last Monday, and the newborn and time at the hospital has resulted in sporadic meals of unknown nutritional composition.

And if you think this diet's worked for me, wait till you see what it's done for Emily!

A couple administrative notes:

1 - I know it says a lot more weight loss than five pounds over there, but I'm just keeping up my standard self-weighing method: buck-naked on my home scale first thing Monday morning. This Monday morning was 257, last was 262 (before baby and virus). The weigh-in was in the evening and fully clothed on the official scale.

2 - I love my user icon, Mike, don't worry about me picking a new one.

Friday Tempatation

Fridays are evil days in my office. The company supplies bagels and muffins, co-workers bring donuts and cakes, and I try to ignore everyone noshing on good stuff all around me. I was doing pretty well until lunch. I ate my small, protein-packed breakfast like a good kid, I remembered to take a 15-minute walk this morning (which is no small feat), and I ate my broccoli & hummus snack at 10:30. Then I went to lunch with friends and fell off the wagon. Sure, I could have been worse. I ate a Turkey Burger (Burger being the operative word) and sweet potatos fries...But it wasn't the best thing for me and the portions were huge.

Its portions that always get me. I vow to eat only half the fries, but then I look down and I have cleared the plate. It seems like portions are getting bigger and bigger and its kind of crazy. Yeah, I have finished an entire meal at Claim Jumper before. But that doesn't mean I should have. I bet one plate equals 3 meals there. I just have to be more vigilant about only eating what I need to -- not what I want to or what is served to me.

Any thoughts?

If only it was this easy...

Who knew the "Mystery Illness" would cause so much weight loss... probably better than the "Hollywood Diet". I wouldn't want to go through it again though.

I'm sure the weight will rebound, but the idea of losing 8lbs a week was pretty cool, and scary at the same time.

Diet on hold...

Being sicker than a dog, I have been unable to stick to my doctor's recommended diet. If I am able to keep it down, then I am going to eat it. At this point I have not weighed myself, but I feel bloated and nasty. Hopefully I can shake this stomach virus and start eating normally soon. Urgh.
