It sounds like your goals are reachable and that you will follow through with them. Especially important are the goals with something physical attached to them. As each person gets older, such goals become more and more important.
As for learning to play a musical instrument--that is also a good one. My suggestion is learning to play the recorder. My understanding is that it is not overly difficult to learn, at least well enough to get some satisfaction from the playing. Unlike a piano, it is portable and, unlike a horn, it is kind of quiet and less likely to engender angry neighbors than various kinds of horns.
