Blah. I'm sick. Really sick.

Blah. I'm sick. Really sick. The flu, most likely. I very much dislike being sick, especially when I do my best to stay healthy. Oh well. Thought you'd all enjoy this link. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

On another note, I'm trying to find some way of making some money on the side...selling junk, being an amazon.com partner, prostitution, etc. Let me know your ideas.

Some things I hate:
When things don't work right.
Ants. We had them last summer, and they're back, for some reason.
I don't drink much, but when I do, I really dislike drinking with alcoholics.
Conservitive Christians.

Some things I like:
My new firewall. It's awesome.
Strat-o-matic baseball.
Most of life. Life is pretty good.

Bush Sets Up Faith-Based Office

Bush Sets Up Faith-Based Office at White House.

This isn't good. This isn't good at all. If the Freedom From Religion Foundation or any other atheist group tried to get money from this pool of funding, those in charge would had a fit. Yet Bush II doesn't have a problem with giving every other religious charity group, under the guise of "discrimination" against them, all the money they want to help, feed, and preach to those less fortunate. Bad news, methinks. Very bad.

Well, it's good to know

Well, it's good to know that Blogvoices (what I use to have discussions here) isn't going under like we all thought it would. It's a damn good service to use with blogger. Check it out if you're looking to have discussions about your blogger postings.

I posted some fiction up in the works sections, specifically a story I wrote last year called Strawberries (time and again). I'm proud of it. Take a read.

I'm trying to think of some more features for this page, possibly a link to my page 'o sites, the sites I visit regularly. I honestly don't have any idea who comes here and how often they visit, however. Leave a note, let me know.

Blah. Religion and politics just don't mix for me. And Bush II sure as hell isn't helping. Make sure you check out the Bushisms - These are things he's actually said. Scary. The man hardly has a command of the English language.

Various updates throughout the site, including a link to my Amazon.com Wish List, the "Hosted" page, and other small little things. Leave a note, lemme know what you think.

Songs of the moment: "Fiction (Dreaming In Digital)" by Orgy and "Muscle Museum" by
Muse.

Soon I'll be adding a "wanna buy me something" link that will connect to my amazon.com
wishlist. We'll see how well that works. I got an email from Luke concerning my
"The Presumption of Prayer" article.

This is what I like, people! Keep it coming! Leave notes in the spaces here. I check the
page for them often. I'd love to chat about it here, where everyone can get involved. Just
click on "discuss".

Life is good. Work is work. I'm getting into the secondhand resale business on ebay to see
how much scratch I can pull up. I'll keep you all updated.

You know what I really

You know what I really like about Blogger? The fact that I can update anytime from anywhere. It's not like I'm far away from my usual computer right now, I'm in the other room, connecting on my network. But still, if I happen to be away, I can still update.

If you enjoy offensive humor, check out Ernie's House of WhoopAss. It's a fine site with all sorts of naughtiness. Enjoy. I'll update the page soon.

A couple things. First, I

A couple things. First, I updated the works page with a new essay entitled "The Presumption of Prayer". It's a first draft, lemme know what you think.

I've been listening to "Tanz Der Vampire" for the last hour or so. It's a German rock opera with music by Jim Steinman (Meat Loaf's songwriter and my favorite musician). I bought it on ebay from a german guy, and just got it in the mail tonight. It's fantastic. The songs are widely available on Napster. Give it a listen.

I'm getting visitors here, I can tell by the hit counter. Let me know who you are, and where you're coming from. I'd like to know. Did you come here looking for the old site? Looking for me? By chance? By design? Lemme know.

Updated the works page (design, content additions coming). I'm trying to decide on some other design elements for my page template, but I'm not sure what yet. The Smoking Gun is a pretty cool site. Check it out.

Looks just like me, doesn't it?

Man, it's late. I'm kinda tired. But I'm off tomorrow! I can't go to bed YET!

If you've got an extra $200 laying around, go get the Lego Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. It's plain awesome.

Updated the page here and there, it's getting there...

On a trip to a local computer store to pick up some RJ45 couplers for my new network (mmm, house network), I ran across something I've been looking for for a long time - the Lego Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. They sold well at xmas, so I hadn't had the chance to pick one up till I saw it at Frys. It's fun - legos for grownups, programmable computer system, neat new pieces...just right for a big kid like myself.

More updates to the page coming soon...I've been busy taking care of a sick girlfriend for a few days.

mmm. blog voices. Ok, that works well. This post is pretty much to test some of my web settings. It might be deleted later. I'm doing all sorts of web work, so if you read this early, prepare to see changes. Are there any spell checks for blogger? Should I do that before I post?

Posted by Michael Doss at 10:44 PM | Comments (0)

alright, we're gonna test something

alright, we're gonna test something here. Jess told me about Blog Voices, which lets users post discussion to my rants and raves. Now THAT'S the ticket. What better way to boost my ego than to not only read what I write, but respond to it? Enjoy =)

Alright, this is just insane.

Alright, this is just insane. CNN is reporting that after a Bahamas phone book was discovered as having the URL to a hardcore porn site, the phone books were recalled. Silly, but good for business, I suppose. Now here's the kicker:

Customers waited in line Tuesday for government workers to collect their phone book, cross out the address with a black marker and hand it back to them.

They couldn't do it themselves? 95% of the customers wouldn't have even looked at the cover until someone announced what was on it. Now they wait in line to have an official cross out the URL. I just don't understand.

People are afraid of words.

People are afraid of words. I recently ran across the Bill Ripkin error baseball card from 1989, in which the knob of his bat had the words "Fuck Face" written, and it showed up on the card. I think it's funny. I'm sure there's some clubhouse history there. I went on eBay to take a look for one, and everyone seemed afraid to write out exactly what was on the card. Some wrote F*** face, some FF, others just "obscene error". Come on folks. They're words. If you call someone a fuck face, they might get offended. I can accept that. I could call someone a pickle monkey with the same tone of voice and people would know how serious I was. But this is a listing of something for sale, not name calling. People need to learn the difference.

Let's see how this will

Let's see how this will work. I haven't decided just yet. Now I need to decide what goes here, what goes in the private journal, how often to update, etc. etc. For now, it really doesn't matter.

Well now, my first entry

Well now, my first entry on blogger. Very nice. I'm redoing the whole michris.com web site, and I figure a blog is as good a way as any to start. There'll be all sorts of information here, pictures, random thoughts, links, etc. Anything I want people to see, as well as remind myself of. Enjoy!
